Exciting Hands on Science Lessons

At Donburn Primary School, science is not just a stand-alone subject; it’s seamlessly integrated into our Primary Years Program. From Foundation to Year 6, students explore various topics through Primary Connections, covering the four strands of science: biological, chemical, physical and earth and space sciences. Our classroom teachers plan together to create engaging science sessions for all students.

Science Core Focus

Inquisitive Classes and Experiments

Our students explore a diverse array of fascinating topics, including life cycles, states of matter, energy, natural resources and sustainability. They learn about the stages of life in different organisms, how matter changes from one state to another, the various forms of energy and their uses, the importance of conserving natural resources and ways to live more sustainably.

Along the way, they develop essential science inquiry skills, such as observing, hypothesising, experimenting and analysing data, which deepens their understanding and knowledge of the world around them.

Biology

Dive into the study of living things, from tiny cells to complex ecosystems.

Physics

Explore the laws of nature, from gravity to the mysteries of light and energy.

Chemistry

Uncover the secrets of matter and how different substances interact and change.

The Cosmos

Journey through space to learn about stars, planets and the vast universe beyond Earth.

We are a proud leader in academic performance across Victoria.

98% of our students from Prep to Grade 6 are at or above age expected standards, scoring 11% above the Victorian State average.
